China's COVID Chaos A "Horrible Indictment" Of US Leadership For Emulating CCP Lockdowns: Former White House Adviser

Dr. Scott Atlas, a healthcare policy adviser and previous White House special coronavirus adviser, has said that the COVID chaos in China has shown that "locking down does not work."

Atlas claims that China's zero-COVID strategy, which included strict lockdowns, centralized quarantines, mass testing, and surveillance, caused massive harm to the population, as people were unable to access basic necessities such as food and medication.

He also claimed that these policies imposed by the Chinese Communist Party constituted "one of the most extraordinary violations of human rights that we have seen in modern history." He stated, “It’s a horrible indictment of American leadership to emulate a totalitarian society like China.”

Atlas also stated that the Chinese government's reported numbers on COVID cases and deaths in the country are "absurd" and not to be trusted, as the regime has a vested interest in minimizing the reported numbers to save face and justify their lockdowns. He believes that policymakers blindly bought into the idea that China had "beaten the virus" and that this was a "completely absurd lie—a fantasy."
