Most Americans don't believe the worst of the pandemic is behind us, poll finds

According to a recent Scott Rasmussen study, Americans' perspective of the ongoing COVID-19 epidemic is becoming increasingly negative, with only 29% believing that the worst is over.

Rasmussen claims the amount is only one percentage point higher than the lowest observed level when COVID vaccinations were available.

Forty percent of those questioned believe the worst of the epidemic is yet to come, with 11 percent believing it will never stop and another 11% believing it would linger for several years.

Overall, Americans are dissatisfied with the outbreak, but especially with the government's reaction.

Despite growing case numbers, 49% of Americans feel that loosening COVID-19 regulations will benefit the economy; only 30% believe otherwise.

Furthermore, faith in institutions has dropped during the course of the epidemic, particularly in ostensibly non-partisan government agencies such as the National Institutes of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. At this point, 48% of those polled thought scientists would "falsify data to support their personal views."

It is uncertain if increased COVID-19 case numbers and the Democrats' failure to pass the Build Back Better Act in the Senate would have a negative influence on the president's popularity rating, which has fallen to 42%.
