Winsome Sears, the Republican Party's first black female nominee for lieutenant governor of Virginia, describes herself as "once a Marine, always a Marine."
On Thursday, Sears appeared on Fox and took a swipe at critical race theory, a Marxist doctrine that claims that all white people are racists regardless of their character, beliefs, or choices.
“We are all about school choice. We must have parental school choice,” Sears told Fox. “I just heard the segment on critical race theory. It’s nonsense. And it says that it’s prima facia evidence that, on its face, as soon as we see a white person, well, ‘They are racist, clearly. And so is everybody else in their family.’ It’s going to be detrimental to our schools and not what we want. It supposedly is to help someone who looks like me and I’m sick of it, I’m sick of being used by the Democrats and so are many people who look like me.”
It has already had a negative impact on schools across the country, including in Loudon County, Virginia, where advocates of the racist theory plotted to target and dox parents who disagreed. Since then, the issue has dominated public meetings. In one of those meetings, this woman recently spoke up and denounced critical race theory.
In an unexpected win this week, Sears won the nomination. If she wins the general election, she will be the first black woman elected to statewide office in Virginia, regardless of party affiliation. According to a stirring campaign video, Sears, a Jamaican immigrant, has a 100% pro-life and 100% pro-Second Amendment voting record and was the national chair of Black Americans to Re-Elect Trump.
