Trump Slams "Sanctimonious Comey" After Sessions Fires FBI's McCabe A Day Before Retirement
According to Tyler Durden of Zero Hedge President Trump tweets that McCabe's dismissal "is a great day for the hardworking men and women of The FBI... and democracy," then throw shade at "sanctimonious" ex FBI Director Comey's "lies and corruption going on at the highest levels of the FBI" implying that his behavior made McCabe "look like a choirboy."
As Zero Hedge described previously, after an extensive day of what looked like the swamp defending one of their muddiest creatures, Attorney General Jeff Sessions fired ex FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, a little over 24 hours before he was able to retire and obtain his full pension benefits.
McCabe will turn 50 on Sunday - the earliest he could have been entitled to get his full retirement benefits.
Sessions stated that both the Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz along with the FBI's disciplinary office had discovered "that Mr. McCabe had made an unauthorized disclosure to the news media and lacked candor - including under oath - on multiple occasions."
Therefore, McCabe was part of the leaks, and he lied under oath.
Horowitz found that McCabe had authorized two FBI officials to talk to then-Wall Street Journal reporter Devlin Barrett for a story about the case and another investigation into Clinton’s family foundation. Barrett now works for The Washington Post. -WaPo
McCabe reacted to his firing, saying that his ousting, along with negative tweets by President Trump were made to undermine Special Counsel Robert Mueller's investigation, reported the New York Times.
