Biden Admin Shatters All-Time Record For Number Of Illegal Alien Encounters On Southern Border
The number of illegal aliens encountered at the US-Mexico border by President Joe Biden's administration broke an all-time record last month, according to newly released numbers. The numbers were released on a Friday evening, presumably to minimize coverage in the news media. According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), there were 251,487 encounters with illegal aliens last month, the highest number ever recorded in U.S. history.
The numbers from December combined with the first two months of fiscal year 2023, which are October and November, put the US on track to have more than 2.87 million illegal alien encounters on the US southern border this year. The numbers mean that the Biden administration has now experienced ten straight months of 200,000+ illegal alien encounters per month on the southern border.
The former Acting Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, Chad Wolf, criticized the numbers in a tweet, calling it "insanity, insecurity, and chaos." House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) also criticized the administration, stating that Biden was directly responsible for the crisis on the southern border.
The latest numbers from Biden's border crisis are likely to turn up pressure on DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, who had articles of impeachment filed against him last week. Rep. Pat Fallon (R-TX) stated that "Since day one, Secretary Mayorkas’ policies have undermined law enforcement activities at our southern border." He added that "His willful actions have eroded our immigration system, undermined border patrol morale, and jeopardized American national security. He has violated the law and it is time for him to go."
